Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded in 1901 on the campus of Richmond College (now called the University of Richmond) in Richmond, Va. The story of its founding by 12 determined men set the stage for the growth and success of one of the country’s premier fraternal organizations. The history of the Fraternity reflects the times, through great wars and profound cultural shifts. Throughout the decades, the men of Sigma Phi Epsilon have practiced their values and embraced the stated desire of the Founders, “This Fraternity will be different.”
Sigma Phi Epsilon Wisconsin Alpha was founded at Lawrence University, a Liberal Arts College in Appleton, Wisconsin. While holding fast to these enduring goals of liberal education, Lawrence continually has reassessed and reshaped its academic program in response to the changing contours of knowledge and changing views on the nature of learning.
SigEp Wisconsin Alpha, as one of the largest orginizations on campus, contributes significantly to the whole Greek Life community in Lawrence community. As the leading chapter of IFC (Inter-fraternities Council) on campus, Wisconsin Alpha is now focusing on make the environment of Greek Life better at Lawrence. While brothers are making efforts, Wisconsin Alpha is also trying best to become a Residential Learning Community, turning its brothers to elites in every filed of the society.
